Morning Activities: The sun rises on nostalgia as Johnians gather for the 73rd Anniversary and Grand Reunion. The morning kicks off with a vibrant motorcade, each vehicle adorned with memories of yesteryears. Emceed by the ever-charismatic Jeanne Nuñez with the spirited energy of AmeLito Deniega , the morning program radiates with anticipation.
The General Assembly commences with the rhythmic beats of the SJC Drum and Lyre, setting the tone for a day of camaraderie and celebration. Noel Juta graces the stage with opening remarks, invoking the spirit of the alma mater. With hearts swelling with pride, the National Anthem and the beloved SJA anthem fill the air, stirring memories of shared experiences.
Welcoming alumni back to their hallowed halls, SJC President Mrs. Cynthia Meneses of Class ’67, extends warm greetings. Her opening remarks echoing sentiments of gratitude and anticipation for the festivities ahead. Mrs. Victoria Sumbillo, Class ’84, and the esteemed President of the SJC Alumni, takes the stage, her words resonating with pride and admiration for the Johnian legacy. She delivers poignant opening remarks, setting the stage for the day’s festivities.
As the morning progresses, officers and committees take center stage, presenting their dedication to preserving the Johnian legacy. Amidst worship songs and spiritual messages led by Mr. Alex Tinsay, the bond between past and present grows stronger, echoing through the corridors of time. With bowed heads and hearts uplifted, Johnians join in prayer, seeking blessings for the journey ahead.
Afternoon Activities: The afternoon sizzles with excitement as the Dance Competition unfolds, a vibrant showcase of talent across the decades. Led by judges, including the dynamic Levi Visaya doubling as emcee, each performance ignites the stage with passion and energy.
Intermission by Jing of the Boyfriend Band adds a musical interlude, amplifying the festive atmosphere. The tempo rises with the Zumba Competition, a fusion of fitness and fun that electrifies the crowd.
As the sun sets on Day 1, winners emerge, their names etched in Johnian history. Dekada 70’s claims the crown for the Decade Dance Competition, with Dekada 80’s and 90’s following closely behind. In the Zumba arena, Mr ABC emerges victorious, with Mr. XYZ trailing close behind.
Engr. Romeo Apolega, Class ’63, the venerable Vice President of SJC Alumni, delivers closing remarks, his words a testament to the enduring spirit of Johnians.
Day 2: February 24, 2024
Senior’s Ball Night: As twilight descends, Johnians gather once more, this time for the Senior’s Ball Night. The evening unfolds with elegance and grace, a tribute to the years that have passed and the friendships that endure.
Guests are welcomed with open arms by emcees Reynante M. Napolitano and Arlene H. Ferrer, both embodiments of Johnian pride. With hearts lifted in prayer and spirits soaring, Alumni President Victoria Sumbillo sets the stage for an unforgettable evening.
Intermission by the Band provides a melodic backdrop as guests indulge in a sumptuous dinner, accompanied by a nostalgic video presentation that weaves together moments from the past.
The spotlight then shifts to Engr. Romero Apolega, Class ’63, the esteemed Vice President of SJC Alumni, who introduces the esteemed guest speaker, PhD Teresa Juta Sanchez, Valedictorian of Class ’74. Her message resonates, a testament to the enduring values instilled by Johnians.
As the night unfolds, the air is filled with anticipation as special awards are presented, recognizing exceptional contributions to the Johnian community. The crowning moment arrives as the King and Queen of the night are announced, each pair embodying the essence of their respective decades.
With the formalities concluded, the dance floor beckons, a timeless invitation to revel in the bonds of friendship and the melodies of the night. Till the stroke of midnight, amidst laughter and joy, Johnians dance, forever young, forever Johnians.
